This number of Tuber appears at the year 2001 with a suitable editorial
structure! It will be a plurilingual magazine which will wholly represent
the world of truffles.
It is a world that can no longer be faced in a local way but, definitely,
in an European one, with a watchful eye on the world markets and on production
areas such as Asia or cultivations in America, Australia and beyond.
It can no longer be thought about protectionism or laurels received, in
the past, by Italy and France. Nowadays Spain has become the third European
partner and, to achieve a common European agreement, a Truffle European
group, called "Tuber European Group" (G.E.T.), has been formed
between France, Italy and Spain.
Such organism came to light during the international study-congress of
Aix in Provence. This study-congress was a necessary event, after that
of Spoleto and of lAquila, to define the truffle situation: its
protection, its promotion, its commercialization, its transformation and,
basically, its cultivation. The problem of the cultivation of the Magnatum
has been confirmed together with the solved cultivation of the Melanosporum,
which constitutes a noteworthy commercial fact; for the latter, however,
a serious research has to be undertaken in order to find out the reason
of its frequent degeneration to winter Tuber.
This magazine binds itself to answer many questions thoroughly transferring
the mutual experiences into scientific and applied research especially
with professional training courses.
As the most important meeting with the truffle is at table, the magazine
will open an international plurilingual dialogue with cooking too.
